Our Six Pursuits
The Six Pursuits serve as the practical roadmap for Mission Church Mount Olive to fulfill its core mission: making disciples who live loved and sent to the glory of God. These pursuits are not merely slogans, but the ordinary means through which the congregation grows in its love for the Lord and lives out its calling in the world. By organizing them into three “loved” pursuits: Fervent Prayer, Biblical Preaching, Passionate Worship (shaping our relationship with God) and three “sent” pursuits: Purposeful Discipleship & Care, Courageous Evangelism, Strategic Church Planting & Networking (equipping us for outward mission), we remain unified in how we seek to advance Christ’s kingdom together.
FERVENT PRAYER
Scripture: Ephesians 6:18; Matthew 6:9–10
We commit to crying out to God and seeking His presence and power in everything we do. As a loved pursuit, prayer is our primary way of communing with the Lord, cultivating deep dependence upon Him. Through fervent prayer, we rest in the peace of His presence and trust His faithfulness in our homes, our community, and the nations.
Because we are loved by God, we depend on Him through prayer.
BIBLICAL PREACHING
Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:1–5; Hebrews 4:12
We prioritize proclaiming God’s truth by grounding ourselves in His Word through faithful, expositional preaching. Scripture is how God speaks to His people, revealing His character, His purposes, and His redemptive plan in Christ. As we remain anchored in the gospel, we are formed with wisdom and conviction to follow the way of Jesus in a confusing and broken world.
Because we are loved by God, we are shaped by His Word.
PASSIONATE WORSHIP
Scripture: John 4:23–24; Romans 12:1
We seek to unite our hearts in worship, responding to God with praise for who He is and what He has done. Worship flows from gratitude for grace—recognizing that God alone deserves glory for rescuing us from darkness and bringing us into new life. Through song, prayer, and obedient living, we joyfully proclaim the triumph of His grace.
Because we are loved by God, we joyfully worship Him with our lives.
PURPOSEFUL DISCIPLESHIP & CARE
Scripture: Ephesians 4:11–16; Hebrews 10:23–25
We are committed to building one another up in faith and providing clear pathways for spiritual growth. This pursuit includes discipleship classes, pastoral care, and intentional relationships where believers are known, encouraged, and strengthened. By walking together and spurring one another on in love and good works, we ensure no one follows Christ in isolation.
Because we are loved and sent by God, we grow together in Christ.
COURAGEOUS EVANGELISM
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:16–21; Matthew 5:16
We strive to live as ministers of reconciliation, sharing the hope of the gospel both in word and in deed. Every believer is an ambassador for Christ, sent to lovingly invite others into restored relationship with God. This pursuit calls us to faithfully witness to the grace we have received and to point others toward the life found in Jesus.
Because we are loved and sent by God, we share the gospel with courage.
STRATEGIC CHURCH PLANTING & NETWORKING
Scripture: Romans 15:18–21; Matthew 28:18–20
Our mission extends beyond our own walls as we partner with churches locally and globally for the advance of the gospel. As disciples are multiplied, we seek to see churches multiplied as well—working together to fulfill the Great Commission. Through prayerful support, sending, and collaboration, we labor until the knowledge of God’s glory fills the earth.
Because we are loved and sent by God, we labor together to multiply the Church.
